High Five # 6 ~ Lip balm/ care

Aloha All,

I love the feeling of smooth lips and I like to apply whatever is there for my lip care although I know that this can’t be really the best for the lips either. But especially when it is freezing cold I never get tired of taking off my cloves to reapply my lip care – amazing!
Now let my introduce my top 5.

My # 1 of all times if Kaufmann’s Haut-& Kindercreme – omg, it smells so lovely and it is really a lifesaver as you can use it for multipurpose: lips, rough patches on body & face, sour nose, dry cuticles etc – great for everything and is the only thing which relieves me instantly from this uncomfortable feeling of dry lips/ patches/ cuticles.

What I like very much as well are the Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip balms. Nice, helpful and gorgeous colour range; my favs are Hibiscus and Pink Blossom. Uncomplicated medium care for lips which need moisturizing but are not chapped or something (otherwise the colour comes out nasty and it will “highlight” your rough lips pretty STRANGELY – so forget about it).

Third ranked is by Sleek Makeup – their tinted lip conditioners with SPF 15. There are very nice if your lips just need a tiny bit of extra care but are good in general. So avoid to leave them in my bag for winter times as I find them less helpful if really rich lip care is needed. But otherwise they leave you with a touch of colour (depending on the one you have chosen & the natural pigmentation of your lips though). I like bare minimum, peach perfection & electro peach for an extra pop of colour. Gorgeous & the SPF is definitely an extra bonus.

To be honest with you: That’s simply it for today. I tried to make up my mind about the millions of chap sticks I have tried by now but nope, I won’t give any further recommendation as I simply don’t use other options!

High Five # 5 ~ Blush

Aloha All,

I have a secret obsession with BLUSH! I love it and I like that it instantly brings you to live (& believe me I need it as I am looking like a zombie without - totally blanc).
Every morning I am looking forward to "paint" my cheeks according to my mood and hands down - I do blush, totally. Even "overblushing" is absolutely accepted; at least for me ;-)

So I am happy to share my favourite blushes:

A great go-to package is the e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder. I simply adore it - it is easy & smooth to apply, you can build it up, can contour easily (don't be afraid by the sparkle - it doesn't show off that crazy. At least on my skin it looks very nice and a bit glowy). And it is the best thing for travelling (two in one + it's nearly unbreakable & that is something you can rely on as I am a master in destroying my beloved cosmetics because of accidently dropping it ... or throw my mascara behind me while I am trying to get my lashes done. Desaster³). So try this purse friendly alternative!

The classic one: CORALista by Benefit is one of my everday-&-perfect-to-go blushes. It is really a dream come true as you can easily build it up and I think it fits every skintone. Love & absolutely worth the hype - if you only get one of Benfits lovely box'o'powder go for this one!

Next is the H&M Blusher in12. Dazzling Peach - dazzling peachy, shimmery & gorgeous! As simple as that - nice everday colour BUT can be build up and give you the GLOW for a fun night out!

When I think of obsession and blushes there is one brand missing here: Sleek Makeup! OMG, I am addicted to # 921 Suede. Awesome! And so is # 926 Rose Gold, a gorgeous rosy-golden shimmering blush which gives you an instant freshness & glow (but be careful because it is fast too much)

Last but not least is The Body Shop 01 Matte & Shimmer Cheek Colour Blush Effect Mat&Satin - horrible name but beautiful peachy-pink segmented blush. There are four different shades which are lovely on their own & can also be used as eyeshadows - so also a very nice travelling alternative to palettes and heavy luggage. But swirled together they are just breathtaking!

So how about your blushing lovers?

Challenge # 9 ~ Stay away from consumption

Aloha All,

with the lent coming up soon I made up my mind about what I want to dispense with. Simply: Consumption! Which means for me hard times coming up as I am the typical victim of rewarding myself for working tough hours.
So what I intend to is to just see something on a blog or on youtube and then run into a store and buy it. Though I have a heck lot of cosmetics/ clothes/ asseccoriy - I really do not lack of any of those things but I am kind of obsessed and anyways - that is what will be really hard for me to stop and at the same time it is unbearable to go this line any further.
So for this years lent I will do not buy any more of those things - it is also kind of an extension of my resolution which was mentioned in my New Year's Resolution challenges ... unfortunately I was so clever to not really bring this further.

Also I was so excited about doing it that I bought and ordered SO MUCH stuff the past days that I easy should extend my lent and double it ;-)
But never mind - I will enjoy and say goodbye to the good reward-shopping and say hello to whatever is now going to fill this gap.
Any recommendations? [I do NOT intend to work more if you had this in mind ;-) ]

High Five # 4 ~ Mascara

Aloha All,

today I will write a bit about my fav mascaras. Upfront I want to let you know my lash-type - as I think it is really important to know what I have as a basis to work on: So my lashes are relatively long, dark,a bit curled (naturally) and thin - therefore I am looking in mascara for more volume on the bottom and more defining length on the top. For this effect I mostly work with 2-3 mascaras at a time (not simultaneously but one after another ;-p ).
I have a lot in the queue to try out in the upcoming weeks and month but right now my favs are as follows:

CoverGirl LashBlast in Waterproof (the orange one) in darkbrown - Love it & the brown looks more natural and really works wonders on my lashes!

The L'oréal Telescopic Carbon Black is great for lengthening + defining and I particulary love it as a base and on the bottom lashes.

From L'oréal also very much loved is the Volume Million Lashes Extra Black - AWESOME but it is annoying that it is not smudgeproof so I end up to worry sometimes about whether it stays on or not (waterproof version will be my next try). Apart from that it is really magical as I don't even have to use my eye lash curler - it'll just do everything for my lashes and is prette cool for a smokey eye!

Next is the MaxFactor Lash Extension Effect Washable Waterproof Mascara in Black - great for securing for example the result of the above mentioned Volume Million Lashes without destroying any work but only making it last longer without any smudging! Love it!

One of my longer favorites is the Yves Rocher Fächereffekt Mascara in Brown - Great volume, great length and I have the impression they even do some pamper work for my lashes - love!

What are your favourite mascaras? Do you have any recommendations for me?

BookBrunch ~ The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom

Aloha Bookworms,

Another stunning book from Mitch Albom which I fell for instantly. I naturally followed word after word, sentence after sentence, paragraph after paragraph ... omg, I could not finish it and nearly read it through in one go (just a short break because of external disturbance).
It basically is a hommage to the good old motto my granny always lived after & passed on to me "Everything happens for a reason" and "You will always be affected by others as they will by you - even if you do not know each other." Damn right!
And here it is that Mitch Albom is taking care to unfold an interesting and somehow deeply comforting story about why we will meet 5 people in heaven. Those 5 people are kindly chosen to explain us something in life we didn't understand or we couldn't even grab at this but still they affected us as we affected them at some point in life.
The main character is dying and slowly his life unfolds and step by step as he approaches the different people he understands his life better (and so do we).

As he is working at a theme park near the sea as his dad was also family history is involved and so it comes that even if our main character thinks he didn't do anything great in life, he is confronted with the truth that he had his reasons and was an incredible one of his own.

Love how Mitch Albom is ones more capturing such lovely, comforting thougths on paper and at the same time makes ones mind flow away and dreaming, hoping that there is a beloved one waiting on the other end.

Thank you for publishing such pure beauty of words!

High Five # 3 ~ The Body Shop

Hej All,

here are my top 5 picks from TBS:

Rescue Almond Treatment for your hands - awesome! And it smells so good you wanna bite your hands -yummy!

Banana Shampoo & Conditioner - ask Allthatglitters21 aka Elle Fowler: She knows about the magic!

Olive Shower Bath - so nurturing for your skin. Even if the smell is not the best (iek) but the effect is worth the it (and it is fast gone).

Blush in 01 matte (pinky-peach-apricot-shimmer-thing): natural & not to heavy but easy to built up. Love! ANd it reminds me a lot of SUgarbomb by Benefit

Elderflower Cooling Eye Gel - so relaxing for the eyes! Not only in summers but always when you feel a bit of a headache coming up (don't know why but is helps me).

Enjoy,

Sustainable Shopping # 2 ~ The Body Shop

Aloha Shopping-Victims,

I love „The Body Shop“ and I am pretty sure that this is a well known brand but nevertheless I think it is worth mentioning in my little series of conscious shopping tips. What makes “The Body Shop” so different from other shop where you can buy skin & hair care?
I think what is impressive is the growth of the shops across the countries so far. Because for me it seems like there were just in an instant nearly in every bigger city.
I was introduced to the brand in 2009 but have to admit that back than I was not relly paying attention although I was aware of my influence as a consumer. More interesting got it when I moved for job opportunities into another city and I fell instantly in love with the range of their products, the quality & most important of it all: the effect of the products!
I am more on the sensitive side when it comes to skin products and I couldn’t use most products back than but I had no issues with their ingredients. Everything was just to good to be true and although it is a bit more cost intense I swear by their moisturizer, body butters & the make-up products are very good too. (Memo to myself: Post top 5 products of The Body Shop accordingly).

So if you can afford those products and you can’t reach for high end products this is a very good alternative and think of cheaper “green” products, which are often not that good after all as quality needs to be contributed too.
It doesn’t have to be the most expensive of what is out there but of course there has to be a balance and so this price range is in my opinion really great.

I wish you a lot of fun in trying the products & one last hint on the way: The Body Shop has a lot of great deals going on and their Customer Card brings you 10% off every purchase + gifts for your birthday & for shopping their for a certain amount of money! Awesome (even if you have to invest first 10,-€ for the card which is paying off rather fast).

Happy shopping & cheers
