BookBrunch ~ The Weed That Strings The Hangman's Bag by Alan Bradley
Aloha BookBrunchers,
I am sure you got my point with the wizard-like chemistry-smart-ass Flavia of my BookBrunch last week. Big confession to make: I could not wait to pick up the next Flavia de Luce-Novel and I am so happy I ordered all of them at once (yeah, kind of addiction here). And next confession: I am on the 3rd on already and chances are quite good I will finish the book this week too ;-)
I am a bit afraid of this as I do not know what to do then as the next novel is awaited by a lot of Flavia-fans I guess BUT to be fair to Alan Bradley, he should pay absolutely the same attention to Flavia's next adventure as to the past ones: Love them!
In this book Flavia is fortunate enough to stumble upon the next deathly encounter and her poison-passion is fully on fire again. With a lot of whit and jolly good fun she is about to support Inspector Hewitt (and intends to impress his beautiful wife Antigone) when a popular puppet-master is murdererd in Bishop's Lacey while half of the village is watching his marvellous performance. Due to her close attention and her knowledge about the place she is able to put all pieces of the puzzle together and this time she is way ahead of all other investigationerers.
What is proofed ones more: Nothing is as trivial as it seems; at the same time nothing is so complicated as life makes it simple and flat like this.
Oh, and I always wish I would have payed closer attention in chemistry now that I was introduced to the incredible Flavia de Luce.

BookBrunch ~ The Sweetness Of The Bottom Of The Pie by Alan Bradley

hands down: Who is thinking chemistry is boring or who was desperate when the next chemistry test was up in school? Ha, got you!
But then let me please introduce you to Miss Flavia, Flavia de Luce of Buckshaw. She is an incredible bright 11-year-old with a deicate affection for death & chemistry. Even in her young years she would be surely outshine Mr Sherlock Homes or woud rather unimpressed inform him of the milion poisons which surround us day by say and what she is able to do on her astonishing perfect litte lab up in the house of her family.
The little lady is awesome and "jolly good fun" to follow when investigating in a murder commitet at her very own estate Buckshaw. Flavia stumbles upon a death sentenced man in the cumcumbers of the garden. All she is able to do is to kneel down and the man with his last breath is saying "Vail". So that is the beginning of an incredible adventure of a 11-year-old who is determined to find out what happened that night at Buckshaw. Her interests is also fired as she can't be sure if not her very own father or his loyal servant Dodger commitet the crime. As Flavia was awake the nigth and heard a fierce argument between her father and the foreigner.
One of the great catches I have to admit. Happy I bought it and the best thing: I have bought the full range available of the bewitched Flavia. So, pls apologies I have to straight get back to my daily chemistry dosis!

High Five # 1 ~ Movies
All time favorite: The Beauty And The Beast
--> Hands down, it is the most beautiful, magical story I know and I was so happy to watch it on 1st of Jan 2012. Is there a better start to a new year?
2nd place is a bit of a cheat I know BUT it is my challenge right? So at least I can make it work here =)
Harry Potter --> I love the books & I love the movies. Especially Ruppert Grint is simply breathtaking, freaking awesome!
3rd place is for the heart: Actually Love --> This is BIG! Keira Knightly always makes me wish for those features & Hugh Grant dancing is hilarious!
4th place is Intouchables --> it is a genius french comedy which only life itself can write (it is true)! Enjoy it & be blown away by humanity & true friendship.
The 5th place is not so easy but it will be most probably The Lion King --> as there are so many lovely memories ranked around!

Sustainable Shopping # 1 ~ TOMS
Aloha All,
Ok, if you
don’t know this awesome brand then CHECK IT OUT immediately! It is
inspirational and they have awesome designs as well.
The shoes
are functional, trés chick and very comfy. They come in hundreds of different
designs and on their page you can send in pictures of yourself wearing your new
favourite shoes (ha, they will become your best friends – trust me). What I
love about them especially is that you can throw them easily in your bag and
they are not heavy at all nor are they too huge for a handbag.
Good for
light packing also.
I have black ones but there are more to follow soon – promise!
For the
girls: They also sell Wedges and there are so gorgeous (though I couldn’ t get
my hand on pairs that actually were my size + my colour – that’s life.
Nevertheless I will chase them down!

Challenge # 8 ~ Sustainability & Consuming!
Aloha All,
Today I
want to share something with you which is important to me: Sustainability and conscious consuming!
I am one of
those victims of the modern world who work quite a lot and don’t have all the time to go
out for shopping a lot. But what I really do is online shopping! And believe
me, the past months were crazy!
I was so
fed up with all the shops & bargains you could get out of the nice world
wide web… grmpf. But what I think is really important (and one of my New Year’s
Resolution) is the even more conscious consuming:
Being actually aware that you are buying something and could do something good at the same time is one of the most wonderful thoughts (while consuming). It can't be stated enough: You can make a difference with every decision in shops/ online. I just want recommend some shops/ products that I feel comfortable with and which make me feel good towards consuming and at the same time being not too bad to our environment (including human beings, animals, nature).
Being actually aware that you are buying something and could do something good at the same time is one of the most wonderful thoughts (while consuming). It can't be stated enough: You can make a difference with every decision in shops/ online. I just want recommend some shops/ products that I feel comfortable with and which make me feel good towards consuming and at the same time being not too bad to our environment (including human beings, animals, nature).
I will
start this as a kind of new challenge and will post an idea for a shop/ product
at least once a week.
If you have
also further suggestion – pls let me know as I am very interested in getting
new ideas and inspiration. Many thanks in advance!

BookBrunch ~ Jesus liebt mich by David Safier
Aloha All,
und weiter geht es mit etwas seichter Lektüre. Ich halte es kurz: lustig, etwas absurd, jedoch unterhaltsam. Die Story ist geschwind erzählt: Jesus kommt auf die Erde, um quasi die Prophezeiung zu Ende zu führen, allerdings verschafft er sich vorher einen Einblick in das Leben der Menschen und trifft ausgerechnet auf eine junge Frau, die recht chaotisch ist und nicht unbedingt mit erhobener Tugend-Fahne hochhaltend durchs Leben schreitet. Dennoch scheinen die beiden sich zu Verstehen und auch wenn der Erzengel, der nun als Pfarrer auf Erden wandelt um den irdischen Freuden des "Sägens" nachzugehen (ironischerweise mit der Mutter der unkonventionellen jungen Frau), nicht begeistert ist von dem Geschehen, nimmt alles seinen Lauf.
Innerhalb der beiden Buchdeckel wird alles abgehandelt, was eigentlich eine Vorlage für ein Drama à la Hollywood wäre: eine Run-Away-Braut, mehr als eine verbotene Liebe, Satan in Form von Georg Clooney, eine scheinbare unheilbare Krankheit, eine kaputte Familie, ein Schwesternpaar, das zusammenhält no matter what, die Apokalypse beginnt und der sitzengelassener Bräutigam lässt seine ganze Wut raus ... ach ja, alles ereignet sich in einem beschaulichen Städtchen mit traditionellem Kegelclub, genau einem Eiscafé und einer einzigen Einkaufspassage ... klingt absurd? Ja, und genau hier steckt auch der gewisse Charme.
Fazit: Wenn das eigene Leben aus einer Reihung von Kopfschüttel-Events erinnert, bitte lesen und darüber freuen, dass es doch noch ein bisschen verrückter geht ;-)

Challenge # 7 ~ High Five - Top It Up!

so I will blog a top 5 of mine on random things every week. Just for the pure fun of doing lists because I have an obsession with lists:
I love writing down To-Do-lists, shoppinglists, wishlists, etc AND I love favourite videos/ blogs about nearly everything. It is brilliant to find out more about people, to get new inspirations, find and try good products, food, listening good music, watching recommended movies - most of the time you find really nice and lovely things and ideas for your life/ taste.

Aloha All,
I am
sitting here, thinking about what to write, what to say and my mind is empty.
Do you have this too: You are full of energy and you want to do something; but
not only just some random thing but something which has a meaning, which is
important … something that makes a change.
That is my
spirit now! I am full of energy, full of ideas but nothing that really makes
sense at this stage! I don’t know why it is that way but it is and I wish I
could change it and turn it into something good. Right now I am just feeling
depressed because I am not convinced of one of the ideas fully so that I am
brave enough to try. Brave enough to jump into this adventure.
Poor,
right? Yes. But at the same time I hope I can use this and sooner or later
there will be something coming out of this … eventually!

I hope you had a great start in 2012 - so welcome here!
And now let's start with"The Single's Girl To-Do List". This book is definitely a nice beach or christmas holiday lecture as it is really an easy flow book. Nevertheless I enjoyed it and discovered the funny story of new-redhead Rachel and her list of To-Dos afer her longterm boyfriend breaking up with her.
As you can read from only this few sentences: It is typical chick lit. So if you need just something for the beach, something which will leave you with a light head and a few giggles then you are absolutely right with this.
Rachel is really doing in effort in living out her inner red-head and not being so lazy and not herself. It is fascinating how easily and perfect everything is flowing (besides the nasty breakup) but as a lot of us females in scret wish something like this should turn out to be.
A hottie waiting for years for us to be released (though he is dating a hot model) - yeah, strike! But what would life be like if we do not tend to dream that the prince come along like this, right?
